Viewing Suggestions

Note Concerning the Optimum Viewing Experience

The @rt room web site was designed on a Macintosh computer with a 14-inch monitor (set at thousands of colors). The pages and graphics were generated with Adobe GoLive 4.0, Photoshop 5.5, and Illustrator 8.0, and then tested with Netscape 4.7 and with Internet Explorer 4.1. The screen resolution was set at 1024 x 768. In my "ideal" virtual world, everyone would come to the site with the same system and resolution. But, I know that will be far from the case. So, in an effort to promote the "optimum" viewing experience, the following suggestions are offered:

  • VIsitors with a 17-inch monitor should reduce their browser window for the opening page so that the @rtroomlogo and art cat are centered on the viewing screen.
  • PC users should decrease the font size on their browsers if possible so that the larger browser text typical on PC machines doesn't affect the layout of the Web pages. If you're using Internet Explorer 5.0, setting the "text zoom" to 90% will produce a satisfactory result.
  • If your monitor is set on 256 colors, the graphics on the site will most likely look terrible. If possible, increase the number of colors to thousands or millions of colors.

We hope that you enjoy your time in the @rt room and find it to be a worthwhile experience. Direct any comments or concerns regarding these matters to Craig Roland, the @rt room's Webmaster.
