Facilities

University of Florida Ceramics has well-equipped studios with a clay mixing room, and two kiln areas containing over twenty electric kilns, a 60 cu. ft/ electric car kiln, four gas kilns, a wood and 2 soda kilns.  The glaze lab offers a complete range of raw materials, digital scales, spray booths, sand blaster and industrial blunger.  The Throwing Lab houses a variety of Shimpo, Pacifica and Brent wheels. Graduate students receive individual studio spaces within group studio areas in the Ceramics Department.

Students are encouraged to take elective classes in other studio areas and while working with Drawing/Painting, Graphic Design, Digital Arts, Photo, Printmaking, and Sculpture have worked with the equipment and expertise offered in those areas. U.F. has recently acquired 3-d laser-printing fabrication equipment, shared through the Art and Architecture Fabrication Laboratory.
