AIM FOR AFRICA

aimafrica

CAHRE's AIM for Africa initiatives create cultural bridges between the arts and healthcare in the US and African nations. We are committed to cross-cultural collaborations that provide clear benefits to communities in Africa and to our local communities. Each of our three programs is unique in its mission and application, with goals ranging from arts in healthcare program implementation to cross-continental artistic collaborations to service projects that fill needs in African communities and provide meaningful learning opportunities for students. AIM FOR AFRICA RWANDA 2009-10

CAHRE's work in Rugerero, Rwanda will continue with a residency in Rugerero genocide survivor village from May 21-June 21, 2010. Our team of medical professionals and artists will continue our work to provide healthcare, health education, vocational arts training, mural painting in the village and nearby clinics, and opportunities for creative expression for Rugerero residents. This year, we are also planning to implement a bicycle taxi project in the village that will result in economic and skills development, health education, and emergency medical transport.

AIM FOR AFRICA DRC 2009-10

Members of the team will also work with HEAL Africa Hospital in Goma, Democratic Republic of the Congo, to provide healthcare and arts-based support services for victims of rape.
