CAHRE

Center for the Arts in Healthcare Research & Education. The CAHRE Center is an innovative new organization dedicated to interdisciplinary collaboration between the arts and healthcare.

Community Arts

In addition to events sponsored and organized by groups within the School of Art and Art History, Gainesville hosts a variety of cultural arts events which underscore the position of the arts as a vital component of this community, and enhance the learning environment for students at the University. Particularly noteworthy are Celebration and the Santa Fe Community College Spring Arts Festival, both annual events. Celebration is a week-long celebration of the arts including visual arts, performing arts, and creative writing, sponsored and directed by university students.

The Santa Fe Community College Spring Arts Festival, co-sponsored by the City of Gainesville, is an outdoor sidewalk art show which has developed into a nationally renowned fine arts and crafts exhibition. Covering a stretch of eight blocks, this event is the largest of its kind in North Florida. Along with artist exhibitions, the festival includes a full schedule of performing arts. Organized in conjunction with the Spring Arts Festival, the Children's Rainbow Garden is a three-pavillion facility which offers hands-on activities for school-age children.

Visiting Lecture Series

Each year, the School of Art and Art History, with the support of the Reitz Union Programs Office, the College of Fine Arts, and the Harn Museum produces a series of lectures and workshops by recognized artists, designers, scholars and critics. This series brings an added dimension to the education of our students, and to the cultural life of the College and the University.
