| The School of Art and Art History supports
study abroad for our majors. These programs allow students to experience
other cultures and earn credit toward their degrees. Students in approved
college programs can receive financial aid and can count courses taken abroad
toward their summer study obligation.
Students may take at least six credits abroad to fulfill their general education
requirements. The School of Art and Art History will give credit at the
2000 level for many studio courses taken abroad, and students can receive
credit at all levels for art history courses.
It is necessary to check with the adviser beforehand to assure that the
proposed courses are approved and the credits are transferable. For more
information and help getting started with planning for study abroad, visit
the University of Florida International Center in Grinter Hall.
The following summer programs have been reviewed and are recommended for
students wanting to take art or art history courses overseas. Please check
their web sites for more specific information about these programs.
UF
Exchange Program with the University of Leeds (UK)
We’ve recently signed an exchange agreement with the University of
Leeds. Beginning in Fall 2006, Graphic Design students will have the opportunity
to study in the School of Design at the University of Leeds (UK). This program
will initially allow for 3 students from UF to study at Leeds and 3 Leeds
students to study at UF – with each student paying home university
tuition and receiving credit. This exchange with Leeds is particularly compelling
because of the diversity and strength of its programs and its urban environment.
Leeds is cosmopolitan city located in West Yorkshire, less than three hours
from Edinburgh and London. Weekend trips throughout the UK and Europe are
possible during one’s period of study.

Year-long exchanges preferred. Semester exchanges considered. If you are
graduating soon, consider this as an option for a 5th year of study.
