Jerry Cutler is a painter and studio teacher in the School of Art and Art History. Cutler taught at St. Cloud State University in Minnesota before he took up his position at the University of Florida in 1981. He holds a BS degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, an MA degree from St. Cloud State University, and an MFA in Drawing and Painting from the Ohio State University.

Professor Cutler has accomplished creative research projects in painting under many grants and fellowships. He has won fellowships from the Florida Fine Arts Council in 1986, 1992 and 1998, fellowships from the Southern Arts Federation/NEA in 1986 and 1994, and Sponsored Research and Scholarship Enhancement grants from the University of Florida in 1984,1990,1996,1997 and 2004. Cutler recieved the Atwater Kent Jr. Prize in American Painting at the Society of Four Arts, Palm Beach, FL. in 1987.

Professor Cutler's paintings are held in permanent collections at Northwestern Bank, Duluth, MN, Equitable-Atlanta, Atlanta, GA, McGraw-Hill Companies, New York, NY, Brigham Young University, Provo, UT, and the Samuel P. Harn Museum of Art, University of Florida. More recently his work has been purchased and comissioned for public art programs in Florida with projects in Deland, Gainesville, and Fort Myers. His 2001 series "Sylvan Suite" is permanently installed at the J. Wayne Reitz Student Union at the University of Florida.

Professor Cutler received Excellence in Teaching Awards in 1985 and 1994. He received the Teaching Incentive Program Award in 1994 and the Undergraduate Teaching Incentive Award in 1997. Cutler was named in Who's Who Among American Teachers in 1998 and 2000.
