Portfolio Recommendations Why do I need a portfolio? In order to be admitted to the University of Florida’s School of Art and Art History upper division art program, you are required to assemble a collection of artwork. This portfolio should contain your best and most recent artwork. The entire application helps the Art Education Area evaluate your achievements, as well as artistic and academic potential. Please also keep in mind that you will need to focus in on one area of specialization for your upper division artwork. You can choose from the following areas: Ceramics, Drawing, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, or Sculpture. Portfolio Content/Format Recommendations Select pieces of work that best represent you and your artistic abilities. There is no formula for selecting the “right” portfolio. The final decision of what you put in your portfolio is up to you! Faculty will tell you to submit your best work. Consider the following recommendations when compiling your portfolio:
NOTE: The State of Florida Department of Education requires all Art Education majors to score at least 960 on the SAT or a 20 on the ACT. The State also requires all Art Education majors to take the General Knowledge (GK) portion of the FTCE exam prior to being accepted into the upper-division art program.
