Before coming
to the University of Florida, Craig Roland taught Art Education
classes at Eastern Illinois University and Purdue University.
His recent research activities include exploring ways that the Internet can be used to support, enhance and even transform art education
practices. His most recent publication in this area is a textbook titled
"The Art Teacher's Guide to the Internet," (2005) available
through Davis
Publications. He also writes a monthly column focusing on technology use in the art classroom for SchoolArts Magazine. Some of Dr. Roland's other publications
include a chapter titled "Distance Learning and Art
Education" in the National Art Education Association (NAEA) publication New
Technologies in Art Education (1997), and a chapter titled
"Using Journals to Promote Thinking in Preservice Art
Teachers" in the NAEA's publication Anthology
on Preservice Art Teacher Education (1995). He was a Contributing
Editor of the 1997 issue of the Florida Art Education Association's
annual FORUM that focused on art teacher preparation.
He has also been a reviewer for Art Education journal
and a regular presenter at NAEA national conferences.

Prior to joining the University of Florida Art Education Department, Michelle Tillander attended Pennsylvania State University where she coordinated the Zoller Gallery. From 1985 to 1991, Michelle assisted with the implementation of Virginia's first Governor's School for the Arts, a regional program for artistically talented high school students. where she served as Chair of the Visual Arts Department from 1998 to 2002. Michelle also taught and chaired the Old Donation Center for Gifted and Talented, a 3-8th grade art program, from 1991 to 1998.
Her research activities include engaging art education, technology, and culture as integrated processes and approaches to expand art educational technology practice. She presents at state and national conferences, most recently the International Conference on Qualitative Research (QI2008) in Illinois. She currently serves on the NAEA's Art Education Journal Editorial Board. |

Prior to joining the University of Florida Art Education Program, Brenda taught art for thirty years in the public schools, including 21 years at P.K. Yonge, the University of Florida's College of Education Developmental Research School. There she worked with elementary, middle and high school students, as well as mentored practicum and intern students from the University of Florida’s Art Education program.
Brenda served as general Faculty Chair and Fine Arts Department Chair while at P.K. Yonge and organized and facilitated a long-standing teacher’s discussion group dedicated to educational theory and practice. In cooperation with the University of Florida and the School Board of Alachua County she created, coordinated and directed a professional staff development and recertification program for area elementary and art education teachers. During past summers Brenda owned and operated Summer Art Studios, an art program for area youth. |
