MFA CANDIDATE 2008

My work is based on the poem the Divine Comedy, written by Dante Alighieri in 1306. I chose the Inferno as subject matter because it allowed me to explore the darker side of my work and myself. I use a low fire clay body high in plasticity to allow me to achieve expressive figures and detail. Each piece is a representation of Dante’s nine levels of hell relating to sins such as: lust, greed, gluttony etc.
