The U.F Ceramics area has a philosophy of comprehensive instruction that engages students on a broad base of topics and skill sets. Educational experiences include technical explorations with ceramic materials and firing processes. Two- and three- dimensional design concepts are investigated in ceramic uses and applied to develop personal content in art works. Historical precedents, contemporary issues; artists, and art works are incorporated throughout the curriculum. The studio environment supports both vessel and sculptural vocabularies for making art with ceramic materials.
