A native of The Netherlands, Petronella Palm has been on stage from childhood on, performing opera, singing on radio and television throughout The Netherlands and abroad, in the U.S. and Japan. She studied voice at the conservatories of Utrecht and Leeuwarden in The Netherlands, graduating with a B.A. in Vocal Pedagogy. In addition to studies at the Juilliard School of Music, Ms Palm received her Master’s in Vocal Performance from the Mannes College of Music in NYC.

Ms. Palm is a frequent performer in opera and recital, in the US as well as abroad. She has sung in both New York’s Carnegie and Alice Tully Halls, and was featured in a recital at Lincoln Center as a finalist in the Manhattan vocal competition Joy in Singing in ‘99.

A lirico-spinto soprano, her operatic performances include Fiordiligi in Cosi fan Tutte, Leonora in Il Trovatore and Agathe in Der Freischutz. Venues include the Netherlands Opera, several New York opera companies and the Minnesota New Music Theatre. In ‘98 Ms. Palm was the featured soloist of an opera concertante performance with the North Netherlands Orchestra, as part of a concert tour in Germany and The Netherlands.

Having worked under the batons of Gustav Leonhardt, Hartmut Hänchen, Kent Nagano and Lukas Foss, she feels equally at home in the world of baroque and various other styles of choral and oratorio music.

A voice teacher for over 20 years, Ms. Palm has a keen interest in and keeps current with the newest research and developments in vocal pedagogy as well as in the area of performance and stage strategies. Her students are performing in on-and-off Broadway shows, and have been accepted to Manhattan’s prestigious Tish Center for the arts. Throughout the years Ms. Palm’s seminars and workshops have been successfully received, and include topics like voice, performance and communication skills for performing artists as well as for business and education professionals.

Ms. Palm relocated to the south from the New York Metropolitan area, and will also be teaching voice and performance skills her studio New Amsterdam Musical Arts here in Gainesville.

She is a member of several professional organizations: NATS, MENC and VASTA. Ms. Palm also served as a vocal adjudicator for the states of New York and Connecticut.
