S. Alexander Reed is Assistant Professor of Music Theory, and has taught both graduate and undergraduate courses on music and language, form and analysis, counterpoint, and electronic music, all in addition to the core curriculum of music theory and analytic techniques. 

Dr. Reed has presented and published writings on vocal timbre, Gregorian Chant, semiotics, and postpunk music.  He has also recorded extensively, performing on and/or producing over a dozen records.

Prior to joining the faculty at the University of Florida, Dr. Reed taught at the College of William and Mary.  He received his Ph.D. in Composition and Music Theory in 2005 from the University of Pittsburgh, and previously attended the College of Wooster.
