Healing the World Inch x Inch/November 2008
International Fine Arts in Healing (IFAH) held their annual art show "Healing the World Inch x Inch" in November 2008 to raise money to send volunteer student artists to Rwanda this March. IFAHis taking part in a multi-faceted AIM for Africa initiative to bring the arts to genocide surivors and their families in Rwanda and to bring these important messages home to our Florida communities.
The 1994 genocide in Rwanda claimed the greatest number of live sin the shortest period of time in recorded human history. In less than 100 days, nearly one million people were slaughtered as a result of a long-standing and long-tolerated cultural divide. IFAH is determined to extend its hand in promoting healing in this wounded society. While there is no single answer to how a culture recovers from such wounds, among the effective responses is the arts. |
