Dr. Ellis
Dr. Ellis' interest in the carillon began during her days as a graduate student at the University of Kansas, Lawrence. While pursuing degrees in church music and organ performance, she was enamored by the sounds of the WWII Memorial Carillon & Campanile. After learning that lessons in applied carillon were available, she was fortunate to be able to study with the renowned carillonneur Bert Gerken. "I chose to attend KU for its fine organ and church music program," states Ellis, "Little did I know that one of the finest carillonneurs in the country was on KU's faculty. I was so fortunate to have the opportunity to study with Mr. Gerken. I learned so much about timing and musicality from him."
Currently, Dr. Ellis is an associate professor in the School of Music at the University of Florida. She oversees the carillon studio and teaches theory, applied organ, harpsichord, and carillon.
