INTERNATIONAL COMPOSITION COMPETITION FRANCO EVANGELISTI 2006
Nuova Consonanza announces the IX edition of the ˇ°Franco Evangelistiˇ± International Composition Competition. The 2006 Competition is open to composers of any nationality, under 40 years of age on 31/12/2006. The theme of the Competition is Solo Instrument and Electronics Works may be submitted in one of these three forms: solo instrument and recording medium, solo instrument with live electronics and recording medium, solo instrument with live electronics Any of the following instruments can be considered: flute (C, G or bass flute), clarinet (or bass clarinet), saxophone (soprano, alto or tenor), trumpet, trombone, harp, accordion, piano, violin, viola, cello, guitar, electric guitar, voice. Submitted works must have a maximum duration of 12 minutes . They may have already been performed, but must not have been awarded a prize in any other competitions. 2- or 4-channel diffusion equipment will be available. For compositions using 2-channel sound diffusion, please submit CD-audio format. For compositions using 4-channel diffusion, please submit a CD-rom with 2 stereo files or 4 mono files (accepted file formats include WAV, AIFF and SDII). Tapes will not be accepted. For compositions with live-electronics, any special software must be supplied by the composer, and is expected to run on Windows or Macintosh platforms, using 2- or 4-channel sound output. Control devices available include a 16-channel MIDI Mixer and a 5-octave MIDI keyboard. Additional control devices or other equipment must be supplied by the composer. A maximum of two microphones (including a clip microphone) should be used to amplify the instrument or any other sound source. If a technician-performer is needed for the execution of the piece the composer is expected to participate in the performance and to take care of the electronics, or else to appoint his own technician. In any case, Nuova Consonanza will not cover costs for any additional technician/performer who may be necessary for the performance. It is suggested that composers send not only the score and the material necessary for the electronic part, but also a recording of the full performance of the submitted work (or a simulation of the performance, in case a recording is not available). Please include that recording on a separate CD-audio. All materials (score, recordings, instructions, etc) should be sent to the secretariat of Nuova Consonanza (via Pietro Borsieri, 20 - 00195 Rome ? Italy) in seven anonymous copies , not later than 30 September 2006 (certified by the post office stamp). Composers can submit several works. Each score must be accompanied by a motto, and by a sealed envelope bearing the same motto. The sealed envelope must contain the personal data of the composer (forename, surname, birth date, nationality, street address, telephone number, e-mail address, and a photocopy of the personal id card). Please include, too, a detailed curriculum vitae, the receipt or any other documentation confirming payment of the registration fee and a signed statement that the work submitted has not been awarded a prize in any other competition. All texts may be either in Italian or English. The registration fee is 50 euro for each composition submitted. Scores will not be returned, and will be kept in the Archives of Nuova Consonanza. As in previous editions of the Evangelisti Competition, there will be a preliminary selection of five finalist works . These will be performed during the 43ˇĆ Festival of Nuova Consonanza . Following the unquestionable decision of the Jury, the prize-winning composition will be announced at the end of the concert. A prize of 2.000 euro is assigned to the winner (the prize will be divided in the case of ex-aequo). If previously unpublished, the winning composition(s) will be published by Edizioni Suvini Zerboni and broadcast by Rai Radio3 . The Jury reserves the right (a) not to award any prize, and (b) to give special mention to particularly meritorious works. Only the text of the Italian version of the present announcement is assumed legally valid. In the case of controversy, the sole competent court is the Court of Rome. |
