Abdoulaye Diabate, Cheick Diabate, Tasana Camara, & Abou Sylla
Spring 2007
Jacaré Brazil and Agbedidi Jeliya gave a joint concert on April 7, 2007. Under the direction of Abou Sylla, Agbedidi Jeliya also featured the talents of our four African Artists in Residence: Abdulaye Diabate (guitar), Cheick Diabate (n'goni), Tasana Camara (kora, balafon), and Abou Sylla (djembe). Basikolo
Fall 2006
In fall of 2006, Agbedidi Africa hosted Basikolo, music and dance group comprised of Guinean musicians based in Columbia, South Carolina. Basikolo worked with Agbedidi student musicians and dancers to augment both musical and choreographic resources during their two-month residency. In addition, the group musically collaborated with Jacaré Brazil, traveled to The New World School of the Arts in Miami for three performances, and performed a final concert series at UF's Constans Theater from December 1-3. Abou Sylla & Eric Gore
Fall 2005
Frequent CWA guests, Sylla and Gore returned to UF in 2005 as featured members of Agbedidi Africa. While in residence, Sylla and Gore not only performed with Agbedidi, but also assisted Agbedidi director Mohamed DaCosta in West African percussion classes twice a week.

Salia Ni Seydou
2003
Salia Sanou and Seydou Boro formed the dance company Salia Ni Seydou in 1994 in Burkina Faso, ever since inspiring a highly original and challenging sense of creativity on the international scene. Their interdisciplinary training including drama, cinema, dance and music, allows them to explore new paths of interpretation. For their choreographic work in France, Africa and elsewhere, the pair received the Mérite des Arts et des Lettres decoration from the French government and were elected Artists of the Year in 2003 by the Intergovernmental Francophony Agency.
