The Department of Theatre and Dance Faculty Vacancy - Lecturer TECHNICAL DIRECTOR The University of Florida, Department of Theatre and Dance seeks a Technical Director, Lecturer position. The position's starting date is July 1, 2004. Title: Technical Director. Position Description: Full-time technical director position. Twelve-month –one year renewable contract with possibility of promotion. Responsibilities: The Technical Director will oversee the management and actively participate in the creation of the entire production process of four main-stage, four showcase, and two dance productions per year, work with the Shop Foreman and Graduate Assistants in the construction of productions. The candidate is expected to be able to demonstrate proficiency in theatrical scenic construction and properties, including woodworking, welding, hydraulics, pneumatics, rigging, plastics, and safety. TD will set up newly renovated 2,277 square foot scenic studio as part of newly constructed 46,000 square foot Constans Theatre addition including “state of the art” studios and black box. Teaching assignments will include basic and advanced stagecraft and mechanical drafting courses. The candidate must have demonstrable skills in such programs as AutoCad. The production program is vital and collegial and requires an energetic individual with strong leadership skills. Qualifications: MFA or equivalent professional experience required. Professional experience is preferred. Rank and Salary: Lecturer. Twelve month salary: $45,100. The position's starting date is August 2004. Title: Movement Specialist. Position Description: Full-time tenure-accruing faculty position. Nine-month - contract. Responsibilities: Teach all levels (BA, BFA, and MFA) of movement and voice/speech. College level teaching experience and expertise in stage combat necessary. Directing, period movement and dialect skills preferred. Qualifications: MFA or equivalent professional experience required. Professional experience in performance preferred. Secondary expertise in voice/speech and dialects is desirable. Preferred candidates will have Lessac training. Rank and Salary: Assistant Professor. Nine month salary $46,000.
