The College of Fine Arts’ Office of Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity
is housed within the Dean’s Office. This office serves to support College of
Fine Arts’ faculty and graduate students as they initiate, support and develop
their research, scholarship, and creative activities.
The College of Fine Arts’ faculty are active and productive researchers,
scholars, and creative artists. Research is broadly defined as the systematic
generation of new knowledge, and the
University of Florida’s Purpose, Mission,
and Goals specifically defines research to include “…the musician's
interpretation or the artist's special vision.” In the College of Fine Arts, new
knowledge comes in many forms. Our faculty are involved in basic and applied
research in disciplines such as history, education, musicology, and the
sciences. Our scholars produce many important articles and books that bring new
knowledge and understanding to the arts and broad issues related to the arts.
Our creative artists are world leaders in the performance and production of
existing works, and the development and creation of new musical, dramatic, and
visual art works.
