Eligibility and Nominations
Undergraduate students in the College of Fine Arts with at least a 3.0
cumulative GPA and classified as 3FA, 4FA are eligible. Students would
conduct research during the summer and continue their work
during the following academic year in a special topics class (usually
4905). The College Review Committee will accept applications up to but
no later than March 1, 2007. Applications should include an application
form, resume, and a brief letter from the faculty supervisor (mentor).
Selection Process
The College Committee will select a maximum of 5 University Scholars,
distributed across the college's disciplines. Students, faculty mentors
and directors will be notified of the selection by mid-March.
Presentation of Research Projects
In a special University Scholars Symposium, the students will present
their research results as oral presentations or performances in the
Spring.
Award Ceremony for Students and Faculty
A University Scholar Symposium in the Spring will provide a forum for
oral presentation of the scholarship. Awardees will be invited to
submit a written summary of their research for possible participation in
the Symposium, which will feature up to 175 University Scholar
presentations. Faculty mentors and
parents of the USP Symposium participants will also be invited to the
research presentations.
