THE SCHOOL:
Huron University
Huron
University is strongly committed to
internationalism, with over sixty countries represented
in the student body. Huron’s location in the Bloomsbury
district of London hosts some of the most extensive
university libraries and educational facilities in the
world. Close to campus is the British Museum with its
magnificent reference library and reading room (access
granted to UF students), British Library, the Royal
Academy of Dramatic Art, The London Contemporary Dance
School, and St. Martins School of Art.
Overlooking Russell
Square, the campus consists of two large Victorian
buildings that have been refurbished and configured to
provide a state-of-the-art educational facility. The
classrooms have an extensive range of the latest
multimedia learning tools, and the buildings boast the
latest IT and computing facilities including wireless
technology.
THE CITY: London, England
London
is a truly global city and one of the most exciting
places on earth. It is one of the few capitals in the
world that acts as a center for the arts, media,
government, finance and commerce. Attractions near the
campus include the open-air theatre at Regent’s Park,
the West End theatre district, The Place (home of the
Richard Alston Dance Company), Covent Garden, and Oxford
Street. There are many world-renowned sites in and
around London, including Royal Albert Hall, The Globe
Theatre, Victoria and Albert Museum, Tate Modern, Tate
Britain, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Tower
Bridge, Big Ben and many more!
ACADEMICS
University
of Florida students will earn 12 credit hours while in
London. Participants may take two upper-division,
three-credit Huron Fine Arts/Humanities courses or one
upper-division, three-credit Fine Arts course and one
three-credit internship. Additionally, students will
enroll in two three-credit UF Fine Arts courses via
distance/online learning. All online Fine Arts courses
will count toward major course work/electives (Fine Arts
majors) or Humanities/International Diversity credit
(non Fine Arts majors) except HUM 4956.
Choose six credits from
the following UF online courses:

of Theatre 1 (H,I) - 3 credits (fall semester only)

of Theatre 2 (H,I) - 3 credits (spring semester only)

Arts of West Africa (H,I) - 3 credits (fall semester only)

the following Huron University courses:

- Students may elect
to take six credits of internship, in lieu of the
Huron courses above.
PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for the study abroad program with
Huron University, students must meet the following
requirements:
- Students must have
a minimum GPA of 2.5.
- Students must have
a laptop computer.
- Students are
required to take two online courses through UF.
- Students who wish
to take part in an internship should submit a resume
and a statement of purpose with their program
application. In the statement of purpose, students
should describe why they want to take part in an
international internship, and what they hope to get
out of such an experience.
INTERNSHIPS
Experiential learning is
an integral part of the program offered through Huron.
An internship will give you a competitive advantage in
the job market. It will equip you with professional
experience, and establish an international network of
people who can help you build your career. Through the
internship, students learn to adapt to new situations,
develop their communication and social skills, and gain
insight into the workings of a professional environment.
Every placement is tailored to the specific needs of
each student.

HOUSING
Students
will live in one of two residence halls on Huron’s
campus: 1 Byng Place, near West End Theatres or South
Kensington, near the Victoria and Albert Museum and
Royal Albert Hall. Housing is included in the cost of
the program.

COSTS*
$8,100 for fall and
spring
$7,600 for summer
Costs include tuition, orientations,
program fees, housing and UFIC application fee. Some
courses taught at Huron, such as Contemporary Theatre,
charge additional fees.
UF students may apply
Bright Futures, Prepaid, Pell Grants and other
scholarships toward program expenses. UFIC also offers scholarships to eligible study abroad
participants.
* Airfare, meals and local transportation are not
included in the estimated costs.
