Read About our Programs The undergraduate music
education program at the University of Florida School of Music is
comprehensive and prepares students to enter the music education profession
with the skills and knowledge to teach successfully. Through a sequenced
series of courses and preservice public and laboratory school teaching
experiences, students who successfully complete the program fulfill the
requirements for Florida Teacher Certification in Music in grades K-12.
Florida certification is also reciprocal in other states. The UF music
education curriculum is approved by the Florida Department of Education, the
National Association of Schools of Music, and the National Council for the Accreditation
of Teacher Education.
The Department of Music
Education also offers graduate degrees in music education. The Master of
Music with a concentration in music education is offered for persons who hold
a teaching certificate in music. The Ph.D. in Music Education focuses on
preparing the student for teaching and research in higher education. |
