Karl Leister article continued...

When the students were finished performing, Mr. Leister presented Professor Estrin with an autographed copy of his new edition of the Mozart Clarinet Concerto, published by Edizioni “Eufonia”.  The final portion of the second masterclass was devoted to a question and answer session with the audience.  Mr. Leister elaborated on many of the pedagogical concepts he had presented during the classes.  He also told some interesting and amusing stories, and offered many philosophical pearls of wisdom regarding practicing, performing, and being a musician.  He is truly a master teacher and was an inspiration to all in attendance.

Immediately following the conclusion of the second masterclass, Mr. Leister displayed a new set (B-flat and A) of reform Boehm System clarinets made by Herbert Wurlitzer.  All interested players were allowed to play test the instruments.   This was also time for everyone to take photographs and receive an autograph from Mr. Leister.

It was truly an incredible week filled with musical memories that will last a lifetime.
