University of Florida New Music Ensemble
The University of Florida New Music Ensemble was founded in the 1999 in order to provide a resident performance ensemble that would explore serious concert music of the 20th and 21st centuries, and to provide a medium for the performance of music by student composers. The group features a flexible instrumentation in order to perform a wide variety of new music.
Each year we feature a guest composer who is invited to campus to present a variety of residency activities for students. The ensemble also features frequent guest performers, and includes select UF faculty chamber performances at its concerts.
Since its inception, the group has given the world premiere of several works by emerging composers, and has numerous pieces written for and dedicated to it.
Please take a moment to look at this year's concert and special event information. Plan on joining us for a unique experience that we hope will open your ears, minds and hearts to the new sounds, emotions and intellectual challenges of the music of our time.
