ZHANG Xiaofeng, born in 1979 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, stepped on the road of music at the age of 3. Showing his outstanding musical talent at a very young age, he won the first prize in Hangzhou children's piano competition only after six months’ training. When studying in the Middle School Attached to Central Conservatory of Music, he was mentored by professor ZHANG Jin, a famous pianist and educator, as well as the head of piano department. Although accepted to Manhattan, Mannes and Michigan schools of music, ZHANG chose Central Conservatory of Music to study for his Bachelor’s degree, mentored by professor YANG Jun. For his Master’s degree, ZHANG was admitted to Hochschule fuer Musik "HannsEisler" Berlin in Germany, mentored by professor Kupfernagel.

Zhang won prizes in a number of competitions, such as the first “Leschetizky” International Piano Competition, the eighth “Freedom and Art” International Piano Competition in honor of Chopin and Liszt in Brazil, Curtain-Piano Competition---in commemoration of Chopin, “Zhu Jiang Cup” Piano Competition in China, and so on. In 2002, ZHANG Xiaofeng recorded a DVD of the complete Czerny Etudes Op. 740. In the same year, he recorded the demonstrative performance for the piano test material for China's Central Conservatory of Music.

ZHANG Xiaofeng is active both at home and abroad. His performance in the United States, Brazil, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, France, Austria, Taiwan, Hong Kong and other countries and regions; in the Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing, the Beijing Concert Hall, the concert held in the National Palace Grand Theatre, China Central television , the new year's concert, as well as in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, have won him great acclaim.

In 2002, ZHANG Xiaofeng joined the faculty of Beijing's China Conservatory. His students have won prizes in “Oberlin” International Piano Competition in the US, “New Stars” International Piano Competition in Russia, “Steinway” International Youth Piano Competition, International Chopin Piano Competition for Youth in Asia, “TOYAMA” Asian Piano Competition, and “KAWAI” Piano Competition. As a result, ZHANG Xiaofeng won the "excellent teacher" award issued by the Organizing Committee of the international piano competition.
In 2006 and 2013, he was recognized for excellence by the Middle School Attached to China Conservatory. ZHANG is one of the most notable piano teachers for piano-majored students in China.
