University of Florida Ensemble Opportunities
Wind Symphony – Our top group. Based on the traditional wind ensemble. Conductor: Dr. David Waybright
Symphonic Band—A larger ensemble consisting mostly of music majors. Conductor: Mr. Matt Sexton.
Concert Bands – Two bands meet in the spring semester only. Bands meet one evening per week—one on Monday, one on Wednesday.
Marching Band—Fall only. Rehearsals begin before school starts. Contact the band office for more schedules and audition information: (352) 392-0223, ext. 210
Jazz Band – Two bands. Auditions are held at the beginning of each semester. Conductor/Coordinator: Mr. Gary Langford.
Orchestra – Occasionally uses saxophones. Conductor: Dr. Raymond Chobaz.
New Music Ensemble – One concert per semester. Often uses saxophones or saxophone ensembles. Directors: Dr. Jonathan Helton, Dr. Paul Richards.
World Music Ensembles – Two concerts per semester. Usually use saxophone. Director: Dr. Larry Crook. Dr. Welson Tremura.
Saxophone Quartets – Weekly coachings, regular rehearsal. One to three performances per semester. Performance opportunities both on and off campus.
Saxophone Ensemble – Weekly rehearsal. One to two performances per semester. May not meet each semester.
Musical Theater Orchestra– Occasional need for a live ensemble to accompany musical theater productions. Doubling is required. This is a paid gig.
