UF College of the Arts Announces New Allison Wyatt Memorial Scholarship for Graduate Art Education Students
A new one-time scholarship has been established at the University of Florida (UF) College of the Arts for qualified incoming graduate art education students. The Allison Wyatt Memorial Scholarship of $6,200 per student will be awarded to four qualified students based on artistic and teaching merit. Funds can be applied to residential or online studies.
The Allison Wyatt Memorial Scholarship was created by Allison’s parents after Allison’s life was cut short at just 6 years old. The Wyatts have chosen to honor their daughter through a series of gifts, including a donation to UF, as her mother is an alumna. Allison loved drawing and wanted to be an artist, often turning parts of her family’s house into an “art studio” with rows of pictures taped to the walls. She also wanted to be a teacher. The Allison Wyatt Memorial Scholarship allows Allison’s dreams of being an artist and teacher to live on through others.
Incoming graduate art education students interested in applying for the scholarship should submit the following items by November 1, 2014 for the online program (spring 2015 enrollment) or February 1, 2015 for the residential program (fall 2015 enrollment):
-Statement of professional goals for earning an MA degree in Art Education
-Current curriculum vita or resume in PDF format
-Three current letters of recommendation for this graduate school application and scholarship award
-At least 10 images of original works of art
-A research paper, article or other sample of academic writing in PDF format
-A teaching philosophy or artist statement
