Gator Jazz & Blues Festival 2013

While Homecoming is rooted in the tradition of Gator football, it's also about celebrating all aspects of the University of Florida, including the arts.

Join the College of Fine Arts and UF Homecoming in celebrating the end of National Arts and Humanities Month and the kick-off of Homecoming week at Gator Jazz & Blues Fest on Sunday, November 3, 2013 from 1-4 p.m. at Flavet Field.

Gator Jazz & Blues Fest will feature jazz, funk, and blues performances from student, faculty and community bands. We invite the UF and Gainesville communities alike to come out and participate in this fun and family-friendly event and enjoy some good music, good food, and good company.

The line-up features three top-notch bands, who are sure to bring the crowd to their feet:

  • Mindwalk
  • R. Mutt Blues Band
  • UF Jazz Band

Head of the University of Florida Jazz Department, Scott Wilson, said that Gator Jazz and Blues Fest is a great way to get everyone ready for Homewoming weekend.

"It's a time to connect with students at Flavet Field and enjoy peer fellowship, great music that you can dance to, cool food and see community bands," he said. "I hope many students attend this new event and play in the field, have fun, listen, study, sing, and be part of the wonderful spirit of the Gator Nation!"

Campus and community are encouraged to bring picnic blankets, lawn chairs and tailgating games. No tickets or reservations are required and admission is free.
