Changes for 2011

In September 2010, the Research Committee met and voted on the following changes in the Scholarship Enhancement Fund (SEF) program for 2011.

  1. The maximum award for 2011 is $7,500.
  2. Awards may be granted for one- or two-year grant periods.
  3. Faculty who receive awards in one year will be eligible to reapply in two years. For example, the 2011 awardees will be eligible to apply again in 2013. This begins with the 2011 awards cycle.
  4. The 8 member review committee will consist of 6 previous SEF awardees and two external reviewers.
  5. There are five sections to the 2011 proposal, not seven as in previous years.

The Committee will score each application on these criteria, awarding up to four points for each. The reviewers will score these based on the overall strength of the application relative to the clarity, quality, and concision of the proposal, using the following rubric:

4 points = definitely fund

3 points = high priority for funding

2 points = fund, if money is available

1 point  = do not fund

Applicant scores will range from 5 -20 points per reviewer. The eight reviewer scores will be totaled for the applicant’s overall total score. Total scores will range from 40-160. Applications will be ranked by total score, and funded to the extent possible.
