School Needs

Please read on to learn more about the University of Florida School of Theatre and Dance aspirations for the future.  If you are interested in making a gift to help us achieve our goals described below, please contact Maria Gutierrez-Martin at 352-846-1211 or mmartin@arts.ufl.edu.

Endowed Professorships
The School of Theatre and Dance faculty represents the school’s greatest strength as theatre and dance students generally make their decision to attend a program based on the faculty member with whom they will be studying.  For this very reason, it is essential for the School of Theatre and Dance to recruit and retain the highest caliber facultyYour support in establishing one of a variety of endowed professorships representing a wide range of performance, design, and academic areas would give support to the School of Theatre and Dance in attracting and retaining the very best faculty.

Endowment for Student Scholarships
Increasing scholarship support for talented young students studying at the School of Theatre and Dance is a high priority as the theatre and dance programs continue to grow.  Competitive scholarship packages for prospective graduate and undergraduate students enable us to successfully recruit the most talented young artists and scholars nationally and internationally.

Research and Travel Fellowship
It is important for the School of Theatre and Dance to maintain a strong national and international presence and for our faculty and students to gain experience performing and studying in the global theatrical and dance communities.  Presenting papers at conferences, performing, participating in industry showcases, attending arts festivals, conducting workshops, and doing research is vital to our faculty’s and students’ professional development, as well as their ability to make valuable contributions in their respective fields.  Travel support for any of these opportunities would also be of an immeasurable benefit for students in jumpstarting their careers.

Guest Artist Residencies, Master Classes and Lectures
This fund would support guest residencies, master classes, and lectures of the highest quality.  It would allow the School of Theatre and Dance to invite many of the world’s greatest performers, designers, critics, educators and arts professionals to our campus to enhance the educational experience for our students.
