Design & Technology - Undergraduate
Undergraduate
The Design and Technology curriculum is designed to
meet the diverse aesthetic and technological demands of contemporary society.
Today's theatre design and production depend heavily on the complex
electronic and mechanical systems used in professional theatres. This curriculum
provides academic instructing and professional training in costume design,
costume technology, scenic design, and lighting design.
The primary qualitative focus of the Bachelor of Fine Arts theatre production
degree program is to present the most effective and affective performances
possible. It also provides a laboratory for students and the opportunity
for practical application of classroom exercises and theories.
The BFA curricula are intended for students who plan to enter professional
careers, allied fields, or graduate study. In addition to a liberal arts
background, the BFA Degree prepares the aspiring professional in an area
of emphasis through classroom, laboratory, studio, and performance course
of study.
Students enrolled in theatre production: costume design, lighting design,
and scene design will complete course work in all three areas. Selected
independent study, advanced electives, and production assignments in THE
4950 focus on the specialization.
A portfolio
is required. For more information, consult the Undergraduate Advisor.
