Acting Assistantship
Performance faculty attend unified auditions of the University/Resident Theatre Association in New York and Chicago, the Southeastern Theatre Conference convention, and the regional American College Theatre Festival. Applicants may also arrange to audition at the University of Florida. Assistantships are awarded on a competitive basis considering audition/interview, academic credentials, experience, and training.All graduate students have performance responsibilities as well one of the following assignments:
Assist a senior faculty member in the teaching and administration of a large Theatre Appreciation Class (THE 2000);
Teach Oral Performance of Literature (ORI 3000);
Teach Acting for Non-Majors (TPP 2100);
Assist faculty members in departmental administration and research;
Equivalent responsibility Qualifications:
· an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution;
· a strong background in theatre performance and an eagerness to share your abilities;
· excellent communication and organizational skills;
· an outstanding academic record/outstanding professional recommendations.
Stipend:
Graduate Assistants receive an annual stipend of up to $6,440, as well as a tuition waiver of $2242 for Florida residents and $8736 for out-of-state students (based on 18 hours of registration per year).
