So What's Next??

Overlaplighting

After graduating from the University of Florida with my MFA in lighting design, I decided to move to Chicago. Talk about being in the right place at the right time! I was fortunate enough to be the lighting designer for a dance festival where I had contact with 32 different artists. Working in a festival setting, you have to be good and fast. I have since had the opportunity to work with some of those artists again in their own concerts. I have also lit 2 world premiers in dance and one in theatre.

Reality does set in, you know. The one about being in the "real world," the spaces are not always as nice as Constans or the Black Box. You don't always have the toys that you have UF. But what you do have, in my opinion, is much more important: the drive. The artists that I have had the opportunity to work with in Chicago share the same love and passion for dance and theatre that I have, and as result, whether I have 12 lights or 200 lights, we put on a great show. The Chicago audiences have also not let us down; they come in support of the Chicago arts.

I look forward to spending some more time in Chicago, and I ask...so what's next??
