Neta Pulvermacher Choreographer, performer, teacher; born and raised in Kibbutz Lehavot Habashan, Israel; graduated from Juilliard in 1985; Artistic Director of the Neta Dance Company; Curator/founder of the A.W.A.R.D. Show! (Artists With Audiences Responding To Dance) at Joyce SoHo which is now a national series produced by the Joyce Theater Foundation and taking place in Chicago, Seattle, New York and Philadelphia and is supported by the Boeing Company. She has choreographed for Ballet Arizona, Ballet New England, Vertigo Dance Company (Israel), the Repertory Project (Ohio), Ballet Wisconsin, the School Ensemble of Dance Theater of Harlem, the Yard, the Alvin Ailey School, the American Dance Festival, North Carolina School of the Arts and numerous university dance programs; her works have been presented at Dance Theater Workshop, Danspace Project, the Joyce Theater, the 92nd Street Y Harkness Dance Series, the Knitting Factory, Merkin Concert Hall, DNA, Symphony Space, the Miller Theater, the Flea Theater, Joe’s Pub, Central Park\'s SummerStage and The Kitchen, among others; her company has appeared at the Israel Festival, the Krakow Festival, the Bytom International Festival of Modern Dance, the International Festival of the Arts (Costa Rica), and Belarus; She has received choreography fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the New York Foundation for the Arts, a special choreography award from Bessie Schonberg and numerous grants; She served on the faculties of Manhattanville College, Princeton University, Barnard College and the Frank Sinatra High School for the Arts among others and is on faculty at the American Dance Festival.
Neta is noted for her collaborations with musicians and composers. Recent collaborations include: Miri Ben Ari, John Zorn, XTC, Sarah Davis Buechner, Yuval Gabay, the Jazz Passengers and Anthony Coleman among others. She has choreographed for Mira Nair's film The Namesake. She holds an MFA from Hollins/ADF, an M.A. from Teachers College, Columbia University and is a graduate of the Juilliard School. Most recently Pulvermacher was chosen to choreograph for the Limon Dance Company with whom she will work in February of 08. With the aid of a UF Center For World Arts Fellowship Neta conducted a residency at the Matte Asher Ensemble in Israel and the Klor Center in Israel. Pulvermacher's recent work, Air toured to several cities in the US, Europe and throughout Israel this spring by the Matte Asher Ensemble. Her work, Vivaldiana is in the repertory of The Belarus Institute of Culture in Minsk. Her company\'s recent projects include a New York Season at DNA in NYC (07), residencies at Roger Williams University and UF. Pulvermacher and her company produced the first three seasons of the A.W.A.R.D. Show! in NYC from 2006-2008 and she now serves as an advisor to the project. Her company most recently premiered "Fold" inspired by origami operations at Danspace Project, NYC (2009). Neta was invited to Senegal to teach a choreography workshop to 20 contemporary African choreographers at Ecole Des Sables in 2009, she hopes to go back there soon and often. Neta created the UF/NYC Dance Exchange and now the UF/Israel Dance program which will take place in the summer of 2010. She is currently working on the Fold MCEP project which will take her work, Fold to museum and gallery spaces across the nation as a cross between installation and performance.
