UF is a Creative Campus
The University of Florida joins other leading universities in efforts to develop
creative campuses nationwide. The goals of the Creative Campus Initiative are to
establish educational settings that infuse the academy with the arts, foster
creativity in all disciplines, promote interdisciplinary projects and encourage
new ways of solving problems and expressing ideas. The arts stand squarely in
the center of these efforts. As Dana Gioia, former chairman of the National
Endowment for the Arts, said in his 2007 Commencement speech at Stanford
University, The real purpose of arts education is to create complete human
beings capable of leading successful and productive lives.... The College of
Fine Arts and its Center for the Arts and Public Policy help to position UF as a
national leader in this Creative Campus Initiative.

UF Center for Arts in Medicine (CAM)
The mission of the Center for the Arts in Medicine is
to facilitate research, education and training in the use of the arts to enhance
the healing process, to further develop arts in health care as career options
for artists and to promote art and creativity as catalysts for developing
healthy lifestyles. The Center provides a framework for interdisciplinary
collaboration among University of Florida faculty and students, healthcare
providers, clinical artists, and our local and global communities. The Center
develops and effects interdisciplinary research studies and educational
curricula on all levels and serves as a national model for the arts in
healthcare research, education and training.
