Reading Between Lives; Michael Kemp and Sean Sexton

06/30/14 - 10/31/14

Opening Reception: Thursday, September 25, 2014

This exhibition of paintings, drawings, prints, and ceramics by two University of Florida alumni explores a dynamic relationship developed over the course of several decades between two close friends and art colleagues.  Sean and Michael have long worked from nature in still life, plein-air painting, figurative and studio work; all based in their real life day-to-day experiences.  Their ongoing dialogue shared through letter-writing, conversation, travel, art-making, and personal and professional experiences, extends to their roots, families, and dreams.

Creative B: George A. Smathers Libraries Presents: Geocoaching

07/01/14 - 08/08/14

Learn about geocaching, GPS and geographic information systems (GIS) services at the George A. Smathers Libraries! Geocaching is "a game in which players are given the geographical coordinates of a cache of items which they search for with a GPS device." Students will be given the coordinates for a handful of locations around campus and students can the "collect" the cache by taking a picture of themselves or their group at the geocache location. Once a student has completed all of the Creative B caches they will be rewarded with a Geocoin that they can register and track as it moves through geocaches around the world. If you don't have your own GPS unit, the Map & Imagery Library has GPS units available to be checked out by participants. Come to the Kick-Off Pizza Party July 8 or visit the Map & Imagery Library at its new location in Smathers Library anytime during Summer B to get started!
