December 1, 2012 Benjamin O'Brien's work Densité is a finalist in the 2012 WOCMAT International Electroacoustic Music Young Composers Awards. The work was presented at the 2012 International Workshop on Computer Music and Audio Technology (WOCMAT), National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan.

March 26-28, 2012 Dr. Paul Richards was the composer-in-residence at Cambrian College in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, for a series of masterclasses, workshops, and a concert featuring the premiere of his Concerto for Violin, Guitar, and Bear Mountain.

March 2, 2012 Chester Udell and recent alum Jorge Variego premiered new compositions for the On Silence: Hommage to Cage project at the Issue Room, New York City, NY. Subsequent performances scheduled for March 25, 2012 (University of Miami) and March 27, 2012 (Wesleyan University).
March 1-3, 2012 Travis Garrison presented his work Mutations I for Bb clarinet, bassoon, piano, and electronics at the 13th Biennial Arts and Technology Symposium at Connecticut College in New London, CT.

November 18-19, 2011 Andrew Babcock presented his work Imbroglio at the FEASt Festival at the Herbert and Nicole Wertheim Performing Arts Center in Miami, FL.
November 17-19, 2011 Andrew Babcock (1st PRIZE) and Chester Udell (finalist) participated in the Sound in Space competition sponsored by the Goethe Institut, French Consulate Cultural Services, Harvard University, and Northeastern University. The two composers performed their works Anagoge and Steel Golem at the Fenway Center, Boston using Harvard University's Hydra Speaker-Orchestra.
November 12, 2011 Andrew Babcock presented his work Anagoge at the KcEMA concert Electronic Spaces at the Unity Temple on the Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri.

April 2010: PhD student Chester Udell was awarded the First Prize for the ASCAP/SEAMUS Student Commission Competition for his composition Brass Alchemy at the SEAMUS National Conference. The work will appear on the SEAMUS 2010 CD as well as trombonist Mark Hetzler's upcoming CD on Summit Records.
April, 2010: UF Composition students Travis Garrison, Chester Udell, Thomas Royal, and Braxton Sherouse traveled to St. Cloud, Minnesota in order to present recent compositions at the 2010 SEAMUS National Conference.

Unbalanced Connection #45 "Spin"
March 2010: UF Composition students Travis Garrison, Seung-Hye Kim, Thomas Royal, Braxton Sherouse, Chester Udell, and Jorge Variego, along with UF Composition faculty member Dr. James Sain, traveled to New York City in order to present recent compositions at the New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival.
February 2010: SCI sponsored a guest artist visit by Piotr Szewczyk, composer and violinist with the Jacksonville Symphony. He performed his Violin Futura 2008/2009 concerts and presented a composition/performance master class to UF students, including reading several student works.
February 25-28, 2010: Through the support of the UF student chapter of the Society of Composers, Inc., and the Sonic Computing Organization, noted composer Larry Polansky was invited to campus for a two-day residency. During his stay, Mr. Polansky gave a composition masterclass and a public lecture, and participated in a student-organized concert of his compositions.
