Current Students: Be Your Own Advisor Critical Dates Music Minors FAQ   Staff

  • Are majors/minors given priority for practice rooms?
    Are there enough practice rooms?
Yes, practice rooms are reserved only for music majors and minors, therefore, space is available for all of our students.

  • Is there storage available for instruments?
Yes, we provide some storage for instruments. Lockers are available for assignment at the beginning of each semester free of charge.

  • Is there a music advisor and will I be able to stay on track for my degree program?
Yes, a music advisor is available to monitor student progress. Each semester music students see their advisor to register for music classes. At that time, the advisor ensures successful academic progress towards the students' chosen major.

  • Will I be able to finish General Education requirements on time? Will I have enough time to practice while taking General Education courses?
Yes, most music students are finished with their General Education courses by the end of their junior year. Gen.Ed. courses are offered at different times throughout the week. Students are encouraged to schedule "practice time" just like a class in order to maintain a consistent practice regime.

  • What are the requirements for keeping a scholarship? Will I be monitored?
The most important requirement to keep a music scholarship is that students must be classified as a "Music Major. Additional requirements are stated in each student's "scholarship contract letter". Students are monitored by their Academic Advisor at the beginning and at the end of each semester.
