Music Majors for Saxophonists
The University of Florida School of Music offers a variety of courses of study for music majors. This page provides brief descriptions of each program of interest to saxophonists. Bachelor of Music Performance, Instrumental - The professional performance degree track. Suitable for very talented students preparing for a career in performance or college teaching.
Bachelor of Music in Music Education, Instrumental Emphasis - This degree track prepares the student for a variety of elementary and secondary teaching positions. This is also a suitable track for future college teachers.
Bachelor of Music in Combination with an Outside Field - A music degree with a significant cognate field of study in an area outside of music. This is an excellent degree choice for students with a strong interest in another field. It is also the degree track of choice for those wishing to pursue pre-Med, pre-Law or similar pre-professional courses of study.
Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance - This is a liberal arts degree with a music emphasis. It features fewer music courses than the Bachelor of Music degree, and more general education requirements and electives.
