School of Music Concerto Competition

The annual concerto competition usually takes place in late October or early November. One winner is named in each category: undergraduate and graduate. The winners concert is with orchestra, so appropriate repertoire must be presented. Memorization is not required. Judges are musicians not affiliated with the University.

Undergraduates are encouraged to compete in the junior and senior years. Graduate students should compete in the fall of their second year.

Saxophonists have won this competition four times in recent years. Repertoire performed was: Ibert Concertino da Camera (twice), Martin Ballade, and Tomasi Concerto.
